We rented a car here and we did not have any issues. They transported us from the airport to their office where they have all the cars and there Tony did a great job answering all of our questions (and we had many questions!) in a kindness and professional way.
We have rented a car recently on two separate occasions from the Payless Alajuela location by SJO airport. Customer service rep, Jefferson Garcia has assisted me via email in advance of our arrival in confirming our reservation and verifying/upgrading to a 4x4 at a reasonable price. He is very professional and thorough in providing an estimate breakdown including government-required 3rd party liability insurance not covered by our Visa card as well as passing on our special requests to Alajuela office. No surprises.
All four counter representatives at the Alajuela office near SJO airport-Bertony Garcia Barrantes, Carlos Ramirez Gómez, Byron Díaz Contreras and another whose name I didn’t have in writing-are always friendly and patient. We appreciate their professionalism and attention to detail. They even had the kind airport driver ready to deliver us back to airport when we were running late. They also secured us a 4WD with Apple Play at our request both times. We had a minor fender bender, and they provided us with necessary paperwork for Visa claim-no issues. We look forward to renting from them again soon until we close on our new CR home and purchase a vehicle.
Best rental car experience I have ever had. Fair prices and good customer service. This was the first rental company that didn't try to make up things to charge me for when I brought the car back. I will definitely be using them again when I come back to Costa Rica.
